Japanese Style, Art, Films, Costume and Calligraphy blows my frock up

Japanese style has influenced many Western artists from Van Gogh in France, Klimt in Austria and Whistler in England. I collect Kimono and have three dans in Japanese Calligraphy. I love Kabuki, so began to turn the hand coiled pots I make into Kabuki characters, using real ribbons, fans and making kimono out of real material for them to wear. For the girl musicians I had made exact replicas of their instruments. My figures can be two feet high just head or upper body, or slightly smaller full body Geisha or musicians.

My chess set is 28" x 28" square table. Most figures are nine inches high. It has a mirrored surface to reflect the figures, who have their own storage/table in two tiers, lined with straw. I was very influenced by Kurosawa when designing this.

All the figures are coil built and fired. Some are painted or decorated with gold leaf afterwards, silk flowers and ribbon are next. They mostly stand on revolving wooden stands.
